Boramie Sao is a self-taught Cambodian American Visual Artist from Long Beach, California, primarily working with oil. She made her way from Southern California and spent almost a decade in Portland, Oregon before moving to Taos, New Mexico in the fall of 2020. The time she’s dedicated to the exploration of self, identity, the human experience and the nuances that follow, have influenced the evolution of her work from the very beginning. Before she settled in New Mexico, Boramie explored many facets of her creativity, working in many different modes and mediums that called to her, including photography, ceramics and poetry. She draws inspiration from everything around her including the natural world and the people who make it up. Her own experiences are woven into the stories, titles and paintings she creates. What evolves is not up to her entirely… but where the work takes her is part of the process as she allows it to lead the way.
