Beyond Plein Sight · November 16, 2025

November 16, 2025
10:00 am — 3:00 pm

Join us for a plein-air painting workshop with desert-based artist, Rachel Rickert. Beyond Plein Sight will include oil painting color discussion and demonstration, painting time with a prompt and one-on-one guidance with the instructor, and creative interplay with the desert landscape in Black Rock Canyon campground. This workshop will meet at Compound YV for a brief orientation and then participants will drive to the location, where the artist will speak about fostering artistic connection to the land through direct, respectful engagement with the environment. Participants will become familiar with the materials, processes, and applications of plein-air painting through practice and discussions during the session. Prior painting or drawing experience is recommended, but not required.

To register, please email hello@compoundyv.com by November 7, 2025. While the workshop is free to attend, we suggest a sliding scale donation of $125–250 for those who are able to contribute. Proceeds will cover materials, workshop production costs, and will directly support the presenting artist. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Attendance will be limited to 15 participants.

Materials will be provided, but if you have a plein air easel (french or tripod) and any favorite oil painting supplies, please bring them: paint brushes, oil painting medium, thinner, palette, palette knife, painting surface: small canvas or panel.
